Abigail O'Connor
Abigail O’Connor is an accomplished attorney with approximately 15 years of experience dedicated to trusts and estates. Her specific practice areas include estate planning, estate and gift tax strategic planning, Alaska trusts for both Alaskans and non-Alaskans, representation of trustees and beneficiaries, estate administration, and family business succession planning. Abigail is a the Alaska State Chair of the the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, holds a Martindale Hubbell "AV" rating, and regularly writes and speaks about estate planning.
Abigail approaches estate planning from a comprehensive perspective, meaning she considers and incorporates tax issues, non-tax issues such as challenging family dynamics, and special considerations for family business owners. An estate plan may include some or all of a last will and testament, revocable (or “living”) trust, irrevocable gifting trust, life insurance trust, dynasty trust, asset protection trust, community property trust, pet trust, grantor retained annuity trust, qualified personal residence trust, charitable remainder trust, charitable lead trust, and supplemental needs trust. The representation of trustees and personal representatives is a significant aspect of Abigail’s practice. She serves as counsel to trustees and guides them through trust administration, whether it is a particular issue such as the modification of an irrevocable trust, or an ongoing representation for general administration issues. She represents the personal representatives through estate administration (probate) in Alaska. Abigail also represents beneficiaries of trusts and estates, and advises them as to their rights and interests.
